Benny Blanco, the acclaimed music producer, is gearing up to celebrate a significant milestone in his personal life. On September 27, he and his wife, singer-actress Selena Gomez, will mark their first wedding anniversary. The couple has enjoyed a wonderful year together since tying the knot, and Blanco recently shared some light-hearted anecdotes during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

In a candid conversation, the 38-year-old Blanco revealed that he once seriously considered shaving off his distinctive curls, a trademark of his look. However, he ultimately decided against it, citing concerns about the shape of his head. “I was thinking about actually doing it,” he confessed to Fallon, “But then I was like, what if I have like a crazy head? Like I have a huge cone in the back, I don’t know!”
Host Jimmy Fallon wholeheartedly agreed, advising Blanco to keep his current hairstyle intact. “You don’t want to mess with that,” Fallon remarked, to which Blanco responded affirmatively, acknowledging that his voluminous locks remain part of his identity.
Earlier this month, as a promotional stunt for his upcoming book, “F*ck Failure,” Blanco playfully prank his followers by pretending to shave half of his head. The ruse caused quite a stir, particularly for his mother, who was far from amused. “My mother believed it. My mother called me and she was like, ‘What?’” Blanco recounted, explaining how his mom was so concerned that she insisted on a FaceTime call to confirm the truth.
The elaborate prank, which took a staggering four hours to prepare, displayed Blanco’s penchant for humour, albeit at the expense of his worried family member.
As the anniversary approaches, Gomez shared her thoughts on their marriage in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, expressing her happiness with their relationship. Recently honoured with the inaugural Beauty Impact Award, Gomez described the past year as “wonderful” and noted that they are still in the so-called honeymoon phase of their marriage.
“I love it,” she said. “It just feels so wonderful to have a partner that actually genuinely listens and just meets you right where you are, whatever that mood or day looks like, and that’s all I could ask for.” Gomez’s heartfelt words underscored her appreciation for Blanco’s supportive nature.
The couple’s journey began when they first met as teenagers, eventually leading to collaborations in music before romance blossomed in 2023. Gomez praised Blanco’s vibrant personality, calling him “a very joyful human.” She described him as spontaneous and vivacious, emphasising his ability to bring fun into their lives.
In their professional realm, the duo has achieved notable success, with their joint album, “I Said I Love You First,” peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The album recently garnered attention with a nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the Grammys, showcasing their chemistry both in and out of the studio.
As they prepare to celebrate their first year of marriage, the excitement and love shared between Blanco and Gomez are evident. Their unique relationship, blended with professional collaborations and shared interests, continues to capture the affection of fans and followers alike.
