A man in his sixties from Stockport has admitted to a series of serious sexual offences against his wife, spanning two decades. At Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, he acknowledged a total of 60 charges, including multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, bringing new implications to an already grave situation.

The defendant entered a guilty plea on 14th September 2023, having previously confessed to 15 charges. This included five counts of rape, along with several counts of sexual assault and assault by penetration. The gravity of the situation increased with his admission to an additional 45 charges in court, which encompassed 16 counts of rape and several other sexual offences, underscoring the extensive nature of the abuse.
The reported timeframe for these crimes stretches back to 2004, highlighting a prolonged period of trauma for the victim. The wife attended the court proceedings, supported by family members, as the seriousness of her husband’s actions began to unfold in a public forum.
In addition to the main defendant, 12 other men are facing various serious sexual offences against the same woman. These individuals, whose ages range widely, have denied the charges laid against them. Among them are Philip Wild, 58; Sean Peers, 38; and Robert Stewart, 70, representing just a sample of those implicated in this distressing case.
The allegations against these men have been made in connection to incidents said to have taken place from September 2018 through to November 2025. Meanwhile, another individual has already acknowledged his involvement in sexual offences against the same victim, adding layers to the complex investigation that is still ongoing.
Assistant Chief Constable Rick Jackson described the case of abuse as “horrific” and emphasised the police’s commitment to supporting the victim during this challenging time.
