Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that its popular Skull Island: Reign of Kong ride is currently out of operation due to technical difficulties affecting its impressive animatronic representation of King Kong. Standing nearly three stories tall, this animatronic figure has been described as one of the park’s major attractions since its debut in July 2016.
According to a statement released by the theme park, the closure is a result of damage sustained by the animatronic during routine maintenance checks. “The King Kong animatronic sustained damage and is undergoing repairs,” the statement read. “We look forward to welcoming guests back once the work is complete.” However, specifics about the nature of the damage or when the attraction will reopen have not been disclosed, leaving fans eager for updates.
