The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identification of human remains discovered beneath California’s Parrotts Ferry Bridge as those of Anita Kathleen Ranker. Their collaborative efforts ultimately led to the identification of Ranker, with family members providing DNA samples that confirmed her identity.

In a statement, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the identification was made possible through a dual approach involving both private laboratory work and the California Department of Justice. It is believed that Ranker was living in or around Murphys, California, at the time of her death, yet remarkably, she was never reported missing.
