Florida Man, 25, Arrested After Allegedly Hiding Under Couple’s Hotel Room Bed While They Slept

A 25-year-old man has been apprehended in Florida after a shocking incident at a hotel where he was discovered hiding under a couple’s bed. Ritchel Calvaire was arrested following the alarming encounter at the Provident Doral hotel in Doral on Thursday, 10 September. According to an arrest affidavit filed in Miami-Dade County, the couple made the discovery in the early hours of the morning.

The couple checked into their room on 9 September, closing the blinds on the rear sliding glass door before settling in for the night. As they slept, the woman reported feeling something stir near the bed shortly after 4 a.m. Initially dismissing it, she fell back asleep. However, at around 6:30 a.m., she sensed movement once more, this time evidently from underneath the bed. It was not until about 7:45 a.m. that she peeked under the bed to confirm her fears and was met with the sight of a man hiding there.

Panicked, the couple quickly vacated the room and sought assistance from hotel security. Law enforcement was alerted, and Calvaire was taken into custody that same day. In the arrest affidavit, it was revealed that the hotel’s security manager informed police that Calvaire had previously stayed at the hotel but had been instructed not to return after checking out on 31 August.

Compounding the troubling nature of the incident, the affidavit detailed that Calvaire had returned to the hotel around two days later. On that occasion, he was ushered off the property after he retrieved some belongings he had left behind. Authorities allege that Calvaire’s return was calculated, as he purportedly accessed the hotel room by surreptitiously jumping over a balcony fence and entering through the sliding glass door while the couple slept.

Following the arrest, Calvaire faces serious charges. He has been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, a felony charge, along with a separate misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence, as indicated by public records from Miami-Dade County. As of now, it remains unclear whether Calvaire has secured legal representation capable of commenting on his behalf.

No immediate response has been received from a representative of the Provident Doral hotel following the incident, and the Doral Police Department has similarly not provided any public statements since the arrest was reported.
