Stacey Bendet, the founder of the fashion label Alice + Olivia, proudly showcased her latest collection during the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Spring/Summer 2027 presentation held on 10th September. A highlight of the evening was her 15-year-old daughter, Scarlet, making her modelling debut, much to the delight of attendees and her family.

Draped in an eye-catching gold-stitched minidress complete with a dramatic train, Scarlet captivated the audience and her mother. Bendet, visibly emotional, expressed her immense pride, stating, “My daughter, Scarlet, is modelling for the first time. She looks epic. I’m so proud of her.” The designer highlighted not only Scarlet’s stunning appearance but also her strong work ethic and kind-hearted nature.
The special family moment was further enhanced by the presence of Bendet’s other daughters, 10-year-old Athena and 17-year-old Eloise, who also wore designs from their mother’s collection. The proud mother expertly arranged Scarlet’s train for photographers, underlining her support and involvement in the budding model’s debut.
Interestingly, Bendet revealed that Scarlet’s participation in the fashion show was a last-minute decision. Initially hesitant about joining the event, Scarlet was persuaded when her mother insisted she try on one of the dresses. “I made her try it on. And then I was like, ‘Do you want to be in the show?’ And she was like, ‘Okay,’” Bendet recalled, showcasing the close bond and dynamic between mother and daughter.
The collection itself, titled “Welcome to Wonderland,” was themed around femininity and whimsy. Bendet described her vision for the line, which features romantic lace designs and sparkly details, saying, “One of the biggest trends for this season is really delicate lace. I wanted to build that romance out of complete looks of lace—laced pants, tops, dresses, jackets, along with sparkly little dresses.”
To complement the enchanting theme, Bendet transformed the presentation space into a delightful confectionery scene filled with treats and sweets. The aim was to evoke the feeling of each dress resembling a pastry, further emphasising the whimsical and fun aesthetic she aims to deliver through her creations.
Bendet’s vision extends beyond mere fashion; she seeks to create an experience of joy for those wearing her designs, including her daughters, who showcased their versions of her collection. She remarked on the nature of fashion, stating, “It should be fun, guys. Sometimes Fashion Week forgets that. It’s about embracing and including women, as well as creating a world of optimism, escapism, and beauty.”
The collective atmosphere at the presentation reflected Bendet’s commitment to making fashion accessible and enjoyable. The designer emphasised the importance of nurturing a sense of fun in fashion, stating that designers should consistently aim for delight rather than taking themselves too seriously.
