Erick Ross was reportedly on a second outing around the popular lake when he decided to stop at a lakeside campground store. According to Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers, Ross was feeling fatigued after his earlier kayaking trip. He was last seen around 4 p.m. on the day of his disappearance.
Around 4:45 p.m., Ross’s kayak was discovered floating approximately 300 yards from a nearby boat ramp. Authorities found his personal belongings, including his mobile phone, within the kayak.
