Mica, who felt uncomfortable with her husband’s questions about her preferences, confided in Sierra and chose the name of a friend, Charlotte, as a “safe answer”. This seemingly harmless situation quickly turned sour.

According to Sierra, John-Paul accused Mica of infidelity and sent threatening messages, stating he was “armed” and ready to “raise hell” when he found out Mica had confided in her sister. In a turn of events that sent alarm bells ringing, Sierra contacted the police, who later confirmed that John-Paul was not at the location he had mentioned. The gravity of the situation deepened further when Mica’s biblical counsellor, Laura Hucks, revealed that upon retrieving her belongings from their home, Mica discovered a gun and bullets inside the box, prompting her brother to intervene and secure the weapon.

Mica’s siblings claim that during a separation, John-Paul had her involuntarily hospitalised after calling a mental health facility and alleging that she was suicidal. They alleged that a church member who agreed to take Mica for a voluntary assessment instead delivered her directly to the police, who subsequently transported her to the hospital. John-Paul’s alleged control extended beyond her mental health; it is claimed that he seized her phone and laptop during this time, which later led to him posting a private nude photograph of Mica without her consent.

Mica’s friends described her as being pushed to extremes, noting that she felt compelled to take testosterone to match her husband’s sexual demands. Multiple testimonies from friends indicated that John-Paul expected them to have sex multiple times a day, which created significant stress in Mica’s life and impacted her singing voice—a passion she held dearly. The docuseries also includes serious allegations of infidelity, with claims that John-Paul had an affair with Suzie Skinner, a member of the church. Reports suggest that when their relationship began, Suzie was still married to a man who had previously been paralysed due to a car accident. After her husband’s tragic death in September 2021, Mica reportedly confided in friends that she had suspected John-Paul’s cheating for some time. Following Mica’s death, John-Paul and Suzie married in June 2025.

Amid these controversies, questions arise regarding the church’s response to allegations against John-Paul. Pastor Pam Muise from Solid Rock Church shared her own insights, revealing that she had witnessed text conversations raising concerns about John-Paul’s behaviour. Despite bringing these issues to light, the church elders reportedly did not take decisive action, prompting pastor Muise to resign due to their inaction.
