Eugene Naughton, President of Dollywood Parks & Resorts, shared details about the forthcoming features in a statement released on September 2. The park’s updates are designed to carry forward Parton’s vision and her indelible impact on the community and visitors alike. Naughton remarked on the deep conversations he and his colleagues had with Parton over the years about her aspirations for Dollywood’s future.
Among the main attractions set to debut is a serene cascading waterfall intended for reflection. Additionally, the chapel within the park will be adorned with stained glass windows that depict each season, illustrating Parton’s cherished Bible verse: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This artistic depiction aims to connect with guests on an emotional level whilst celebrating the cycle of life that Parton held dear.
In a nod to her commitment to children’s literacy through her Imagination Library initiative, Dollywood will also introduce a new character, named the Dream Maker. This character is designed to motivate guests to pursue their dreams, emphasising the importance of self-belief and kindness towards others. Moreover, a new initiative called “In Dolly’s Footsteps” is set to enrich the experience for visitors to Sevierville, Tennessee, where Parton spent much of her childhood. This programme will establish walking tour markers throughout the town, enabling guests to engage with significant locations that shaped Parton’s early years. It serves as an invitation for visitors to connect with the roots of the woman who inspired so many.
