A woman in her twenties has been injured in what is believed to be a shark encounter while swimming off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. The incident occurred on August 31st, around 1:40 PM, at Norton Point Beach in Edgartown, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

According to Edgartown Town Administrator James Hagerty, first responders were alerted to the scene following reports that the female swimmer had sustained an injury to her lower leg. Audio from dispatch indicated that the victim was pulled from the water and was experiencing bleeding.
