Former actor Dean Cain, best known for his role as Superman, is set to host a new reality show competition backed by the Trump administration. The event, titled the Million Dollar Pitch Competition, will feature rapper Nicki Minaj as one of the judges, alongside a prize pool of an impressive $1 million, aimed at supporting small businesses.

This initiative, announced by Kelly Loeffler, the head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), promises to infuse some “boardroom energy” reminiscent of the long-running reality series The Apprentice, which was created and hosted by President Donald Trump for over a decade. The competition is scheduled to take place on 28 January in Washington, D.C.
The Million Dollar Pitch Competition will see five entrepreneurs selected from thousands of applicants pitching their business ideas for a chance to win funding to help grow their ventures. Winners will be awarded prizes ranging from $75,000 to $400,000, with Clover, a point-of-sale services company, financing the awards.
Loeffler has been an enthusiastic promoter of the event, declaring it a strategic step towards energising small businesses in the nation. She stated, “President Trump understands how integral small businesses are to the economy, emphasising that they contribute significantly to overall economic growth.”
One notable aspect of the competition is Minaj’s involvement. The acclaimed musician, known for her previous collaborations with various brands and figures, has shown increasing support for President Trump, participating in White House events and establishing connections with his political allies. Expressing her excitement on social media, Minaj stated, “This is a major, MAJOR KEY. Soooooooo looking forward to this!!! Imagine being a part of the Trump Administration’s initiative to support small businesses.”
This isn’t the first reality show Trump’s administration has produced during his term. Recently, another programme titled The Great American Road Trip premiered, featuring Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and his family. Loeffler articulated the ambition of engaging a wide audience, hoping to elevate the competition’s visibility nationally.
The Million Dollar Pitch Competition was initially called the Patriot Pitch Competition and formed part of the Trump administration’s broader Freedom 250 initiative. Loeffler noted that this competition aims to create a vibrant environment for entrepreneurial spirit and is designed to uplift small business owners across the United States.
The five finalists in this competition encompass diverse businesses from various states, including Compotech, Inc. in Maine, Plas-Tech Tooling in Iowa, Red River in Wyoming, VetPowered LLC in California, and Winton Machine in Georgia. Each participant will showcase their innovative ideas to not only impress the judges but also gain invaluable exposure in the competitive entrepreneurial landscape.
Prominent judges alongside Cain and Minaj include Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb and recently appointed U.S. chief design officer, and Grant Cardone, a well-known businessman and supporter of Trump, who has vocalised his enthusiasm for participating in the competition as a judge. Cardone remarked on social media about his excitement and gratitude for being part of such an “incredible initiative.”
