Influencer, 28, Dies While 7 Weeks Pregnant as Mom Claims She Was Assaulted, Tied to Tree and Set on Fire: Reports

An Indian influencer has tragically passed away following an alleged incident involving assault and arson purportedly carried out by two of her acquaintances. Manjeet Kaur, 28, known for sharing lifestyle content on Instagram, tragically succumbed to her injuries on August 26, nearly two months after the reported attack.

Kaur had amassed a significant following of 146,000 on Instagram, where she regularly posted about her daily life. Local reports indicate that she was seven weeks into her pregnancy at the time of her untimely death. Her mother reportedly lodged a complaint to the police claiming that Kaur had been abducted on July 3, subjected to severe abuse, tied to a tree, and then set on fire.

Following the alleged assault, Kaur was hospitalised at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh. She was reportedly in a critical condition but had moments of recovery, regaining consciousness on August 5. Despite the medical team’s efforts, Kaur passed away three weeks later due to the severe burns she sustained.

The hospital stated that Kaur suffered burns covering approximately 40 to 45 per cent of her body due to a leak from a gas cylinder used for petroleum. The tragic nature of her injuries has raised significant concern and led to widespread media coverage.
