The heartwarming story began when Chase Guello, Operating Supervisor at River Reach Construction, discovered the small tan and white kitten while taking a routine equipment check at a job site in Leavittsburg. Guello was alerted to the kitten’s plight by its persistent mewing. In a video shared on Instagram, he can be heard stating, “Rescue mission for the day. Normally, it’s a piece of equipment. Right now, it’s this little guy. There’s a cat.” The video documents the crew’s efforts to free the trapped animal by removing the skid plate from the excavator. On July 14, the rescue operation ended successfully, with Guello pulling the frightened yet adorable creature from its confines.

They decided to take her home rather than leave her to fend for herself. It was determined that she would be adopted by one of the crew members who had the experience necessary to care for her properly.

Guello shared the details of the kitten’s new home with local media, explaining that a friend of his mother works at One of a Kind Pets, a pet adoption and rescue centre in Akron. This friend has extensive experience in fostering kittens and agreed to look after the young feline for two to three weeks until she is old enough to transition to a more permanent home. “Her new guardian will be Jared, our shop mechanic, who grew up on a farm and has plenty of experience with animals,” Guello stated. He added that the kitten would accompany Jared daily between the workshop and his home.
