A representative for the park confirmed that, despite the somber occasion, Dollywood would continue its operations as Parton believed that “the show must go on.”

Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Dollywood has been co-owned by Parton since its inception in 1986, evolving into a prominent entertainment destination known for its extensive array of rides and attractions. Dollywood Parks & Resorts President Eugene Naughton paid tribute to Parton in a heartfelt statement. At a celebration for its 40th anniversary, she reflected on that initial day, recalling how she had dared to dream big. “People did come out to support us that first day, and I’m so proud to see that Dollywood has continued to grow through the years to become a place of fun and togetherness for everyone,” she remarked.
Dollywood was originally acquired by Herschend Family Entertainment in 1977, before Parton joined forces to co-own the park. Initially known as Goldrush Junction, the venue has blossomed over its 165-acre expanse, complemented by a 35-acre water park and two lodge-style hotels. With over 50 rides and attractions, Dollywood includes highlights such as the renowned Dolly Parton Stampede dinner show and the newly launched NightFlight Expedition roller coaster, which debuted shortly before Parton’s passing.
While not present physically for the park’s latest attraction opening due to health concerns, Parton made an appearance via video, revealing that her doctors had advised against travel at that time. In the clip, she candidly shared her health struggles, assuring fans that she always prioritised her wellbeing.
