Former Disney actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has made serious allegations against The Walt Disney Company, filing a civil negligence lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The claim centres around her alleged experience of sexual abuse during the filming of the Disney Channel movie *The Poof Point*, in which she was cast at the tender age of 14.

Bolleau, now 39, has accused a male Disney employee of repeatedly assaulting her while filming the 2001 production. According to her federal complaint, the man, who remains unnamed, is said to have provided her with alcohol and assaulted her multiple times throughout the filming process. The alleged incidents took place in Salt Lake City, where the production was based, and even during a flight back to California.
The suit claims that, instead of intervening, Disney personnel failed to offer adequate supervision and encouraged Bolleau to spend time with the alleged abuser. In a pointed disclosure, Bolleau alleges that she was separated from her guardian and pressured to form a “bond” with the accused employee. The civil lawsuit recounts how adults present during filming allegedly noticed a marked change in Bolleau’s behaviour and performance, linking it to the alleged abuse.

Bolleau contends that she became visibly distressed, unwell, and occasionally appeared intoxicated—a sharp contrast to her previous reputation as a diligent and dedicated young actress. Despite these observable changes, she claims that Disney executives went so far as to blame her for her poor performance, labelling her as “out of control” and ultimately terminating another role that had been planned for her.
The former actress is seeking compensatory damages for economic losses, emotional distress, punitive damages, and legal costs. Her complaint does not provide a specific total for the damages being sought. In a statement released through her lawyers, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, Bolleau’s experience is placed within a wider context, as they highlighted that numerous child actors have come forward in the last decade sharing their stories of abuse in the entertainment industry.

Wigdor and Kim remarked, “Our message to the entertainment industry is simple: This conduct is inexcusable, and those involved — directly or indirectly — must be held accountable.” As of now, The Walt Disney Company has not provided an official response to the lawsuit.
Bolleau’s time with Disney is not limited to *The Poof Point*. She also had a significant role in the animated series *The Proud Family*, which aired from 2001 to 2005, and she reprised her role in the recent Disney+ reboot titled *The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder*, which aired from 2022 until earlier this year.
The allegations made by Bolleau add to the growing discourse regarding the safety and protection of young talent in the entertainment industry, particularly within major production companies. As the case progresses, it raises vital questions about the accountability of corporations that employ young actors and their responsibility in safeguarding their well-being.
Bolleau’s courage in coming forward serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of listening to and supporting survivors of abuse. Help is available for those who may be affected by similar experiences, with resources provided for contacting crisis support and sexual assault hotlines.
This lawsuit ultimately marks a significant step for Bolleau in seeking justice and addressing the failures she alleges occurred during her time with Disney. As the entertainment industry continues to grapple with historical allegations of misconduct, Bolleau’s case may contribute to a renewed examination of the safeguarding measures in place for child actors both now and in the future.
