A New Jersey woman is facing serious charges following a tragic boating accident that resulted in the death of her son on Memorial Day. Jennifer L. Pearson, 59, has been charged with several offences, including death by vessel, operating a vessel under the influence, reckless operation of a vessel, and failing to have the necessary boating safety certification.

The incident took place on May 25, when Pearson was allegedly at the helm of a boat that collided with a day marker in Barnegat Bay around 5:45 p.m. The crash ejected two passengers, one of whom was her 28-year-old son, Gunnar Pearson. Both Gunnar and another passenger were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but tragically, Gunnar succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
