Tyray Mollett, a familiar face from the popular show *90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days*, has made significant changes to his life after an emotionally challenging experience that began in 2023. At the time, Mollett was involved in an online relationship with a woman named Carmella, whom he had been dating virtually for four years. Unfortunately, this romance turned out to be a deception, as it was revealed that Carmella was actually a man named Christian, who had scammed Mollett out of a substantial sum of money.

At 36 years old, Mollett found himself grappling with feelings of betrayal and trust issues following the revelation. Speaking to PEOPLE, he candidly reflected on the experience, stating, “After the whole situation… I kind of was like, I don’t trust anyone.” Despite the emotional turmoil, Mollett discovered that the rejection served as a catalyst for transformation, compelling him to reassess his life choices, particularly regarding his health and weight.

Mollett has openly discussed his struggles with weight, which began in childhood. He noted that as a young boy, he faced bullying and mockery due to his size, with his weight peaking at 418 lbs during his television debut. He had contemplated weight loss surgery as early as 2019, but hesitations about potential side effects delayed his decision. It wasn’t until he faced a concerning moment while caring for his mother in hospital that Mollett resolved to make a change for his health.

He underwent gastric sleeve surgery in February 2025, marking a pivotal moment in his journey. The surgery, however, brought its own challenges, one of which was hair loss due to shock. This particular issue further exacerbated Mollett’s long-standing concerns about his hair, which had been thinning since the age of 21.

Desiring to achieve a fuller hairline, Mollett initially considered travelling to Turkey for a hair transplant but ultimately found a reputable clinic closer to home in Atlanta. In February, he underwent a procedure that involved transplanting 2,500 grafts, an arduous 10-hour surgery during which he had to lay in various positions under local anaesthesia. Despite the discomfort, Mollett documented his transformation journey on social media, and six months later, he feels more confident and comfortable in his own skin.

Now that he is beginning to see the fruits of his labour, Mollett is excited about getting back into the dating scene, stating, “I’m looking to date now. I’m not so scared. I don’t feel like I’m a scary beast anymore.” His newfound confidence has motivated him to put himself out there again, as he aims to reclaim the romantic experiences he was denied before.

In addition to his hair transplant, Mollett has aspirations for further cosmetic enhancements, particularly targeting areas affected by weight loss, such as his neck, chest, and stomach.
