In her heartfelt post, Trainor revealed that Riley has been experiencing some challenges with separation anxiety, often seeking solace in his stuffed toys. As a way to address this, she decided to create a “mama doll” for him. The stuffed toy mimics Trainor’s likeness, featuring similar attributes such as glasses, her short blonde hair, and an unmistakable smile.
While speaking in the Instagram video, Trainor explained, “My sweet 5-year-old boy is having separation anxiety, so he’s started using his stuffies, his Smurfette, and was like, ‘This is mama, this is mama.’ I thought, ‘I’ll make a mama, I’ll make a stuffie that looks like mama,’” she recalled, adding that Riley has taken a particular liking to the doll. “He kisses it, he hugs it,” she noted, emphasising the positive impact the toy has had on her son’s emotional wellbeing.

The touching moment between mother and son was captured in the video, which showed Riley happily interacting with the doll. When he asked what she was doing, Trainor brightened the atmosphere by responding, “Showing off your mama doll. Aw, you love it?” as they shared a delighted exchange filled with affection.

Fans were quick to respond to the heartwarming video, with many commenting on how much the doll resembled Trainor. A user noted, “It does look like you though,” while another suggested, “We need these as merch.” The exchange encapsulated the warmth and closeness of their family dynamic, much to the delight of the singer’s followers.
Trainor shares her three children with husband Daryl Sabara, 34, who is best known for his role in the “Spy Kids” film series. Alongside Riley, the couple welcomed their middle child, Barry Bruce, aged three, and their youngest, a six-month-old daughter named Mikey Moon. Their family life appears to be filled with love and laughter, as depicted in frequent social media posts.
Though Trainor has embraced the joys of motherhood, she has also opened up about the challenges that have accompanied her experiences. In her 2023 book, “Dear Future Mama,” she candidly discussed her pregnancy struggles, which included grappling with blood clots, gestational diabetes, and the emotional toll of navigating motherhood during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting on her journey, she admitted that during her pregnancy with Riley, she felt isolated, stating, “I had zero friends who were pregnant. I was alone, so scared.” Yet, the singer has since found joy in connecting with her son as he grows older. Trainor has expressed how meaningful it is that Riley can now show his affections more clearly, sharing that he gives her “running hugs” and embraces her tightly as he recognises her as his mother.
This touch of individuality through the stuffed toy not only exemplifies Trainor’s creativity but also highlights her dedication to her children’s emotional needs. Through laughter and love, she continues to navigate the complexities of motherhood while ensuring her little ones feel secure and cherished. The singer’s initiative serves as a reminder that even simple solutions can hold profound significance in the lives of children, aiding them as they manage difficult emotions.
As Trainor and Sabara continue to grow their family, they are undoubtedly fostering a nurturing environment that prioritises emotional wellbeing alongside the joys of parenthood. Their journey is a testament to the multifaceted experience of family life, filled with both challenges and tender moments.
