A turning point arrived in April 2022, when Borega received a text that would change her life forever. The message read, “I’ve f—ed up the worst I’ve ever f—ed up in my life. You’re going to want to divorce me.” This was the beginning of revelations regarding Kern’s misconduct as a police officer. He confessed to receiving oral sex in his cruiser and lying during an internal investigation as a result.
