Tributes have poured in for Brynn Carnesecca, a former pageant queen from American Fork, who tragically took her own life on Sunday, July 26, at the age of 21. The young woman, who was crowned Miss American Fork in 2024, was remembered for her vibrant spirit, talents, and aspirations in both music and journalism.

Brynn’s achievements extended beyond her pageant titles. She was held in high regard by her friends and family, who acknowledged her prowess as a pianist and her dreams of becoming a journalist. Her mother, Michele Carnesecca, spoke to local news outlet KSL, emphasising her daughter’s multifaceted nature. “She took her own precious life, but she is more than what happened to her,” Michele stated, calling for recognition of the extraordinary life Brynn led.

Throughout her career, Brynn demonstrated impressive journalistic talent and was recently published in several local outlets, including the American Fork Citizen and the Lehi Free Press. She had also contributed to Utah Valley Magazine and BYU’s Daily Universe, showcasing her passion for storytelling. Notably, she interned at KSL during the summer of 2025, an experience that Michele remembered fondly. “She was an incredible writer and reader from a young age,” her mother remarked.
In the lead-up to the tragedy, Brynn was preparing to compete in the Miss Provo pageant on August 22, a continuation of her commitment to the pageant community, where her charisma earned her the title of Miss Congeniality at last year’s Miss America Utah pageant. Her legacy within the Miss American Fork organisation was officially acknowledged in a heartfelt statement on their Instagram account. The organisation expressed their sorrow, stating, “Your beautiful smile, your kindness, your passion, and the way you supported everyone around you will never be forgotten.”
Following her passing, a vigil was held at the American Fork Amphitheater, where attendees donned yellow to honour Brynn’s memory. Friends and family gathered to share their grief and write notes in tribute to her. This display of love and affection highlighted the profound impact Brynn had on those around her, a sentiment echoed by her cousin Kassidy Jackman Murdoch. In a GoFundMe campaign launched to cover her funeral costs, Kassidy described Brynn as a “bright light in our family and community,” and expressed the family’s desire to celebrate her legacy.
The GoFundMe effort, which has already raised nearly $27,000, aims for a target of $40,000. “Our family is heartbroken by Brynn’s unexpected passing. We want to honour her memory in a way that reflects her spirit and the love she gave to so many,” Kassidy wrote, highlighting Brynn’s dedication to kindness and community service.
Amidst the outpouring of condolences, friends returned to Brynn’s last Instagram post, filling the comments with heartfelt tributes. Messages of love and remembrance flooded in, further illustrating the depth of Brynn’s connections with those she knew. One commenter insisted, “Love you always Brynn,” while another expressed, “Missing you so much, Brynn. 🤍😢.”
Brynn Carnesecca’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles that can affect even the most accomplished individuals. Her talents and passion for life were overshadowed by a tragic end, prompting conversations about mental health and support within communities. As her family, friends, and the wider community grapple with this profound loss, they remain determined to honour her memory and the legacy of love she has left behind.
