Tom Holland is enjoying one of the most demanding but rewarding summers of his career, boasting dual roles in two major film releases: “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” The young actor has expressed much enthusiasm regarding the promotion of both films, stating that he is “absolutely loving” the experience.

Both projects come at a pivotal time for Holland, as he takes centre stage not only in the critically acclaimed adaptation of Homer’s epic but also in the latest chapter of the beloved Spider-Man franchise. The first film, “The Odyssey,” is currently showing in cinemas, while “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to hit theatres on July 31.
In a candid interview on the Dish Podcast recorded on July 22, Holland elaborated on the unique thrill of participating in simultaneous promotional tours, emphasising his genuine pride in both films. He remarked that this phase of promotion is markedly different from past experiences where he felt less excited about the projects he was representing.

“When you’re doing press for movies you’re really proud of, it’s really easy,” Holland explained. “When they ask you questions about why should people go and watch this movie, you’re not lying to anyone. You truly believe that people should see it.” His frankness highlighted the contrast between current projects and previous ones, where he felt required to urge audiences to watch films he was less enthusiastic about.
Though Holland refrained from naming those films, he added with a chuckle, “I’ve had experiences before when people say, ‘Why should you see this movie?’ And in the back of your mind, you’re like, ‘You shouldn’t, because it’s rubbish.’”
Holland conveyed a sense of triumph during this press tour, characterising it as “a bit of a victory lap.” The young star expressed immense pride in both projects, indicating that the sheer joy he finds in promoting them adds an extra layer of satisfaction to the experience.
He recently engaged in an intensive three-day media blitz alongside co-star Anne Hathaway, who plays his character Telemachus’ mother, Penelope, in “The Odyssey.” Holland described working with the accomplished actress as an “awesome learning experience,” praising her professionalism and expertise in the industry.
In “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Holland revisits his iconic role as Peter Parker. Set five years after fans last saw him in 2021’s “No Way Home,” Holland’s character faces the daunting challenge of rekindling the memories of his former girlfriend MJ, portrayed by Zendaya, and his best friend Ned, played by Jacob Batalon. This storyline is further complicated by a new and formidable threat that Peter must confront alone.
Joining the cast for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” are notable names such as Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role, alongside Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jon Bernthal reprising his role as the Punisher. Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man began back in 2016 with his introduction in “Captain America: Civil War,” and since then, he has become one of the most recognisable faces in the superhero genre.
As excitement grows for the release of both films, Holland’s positivity and eagerness during this promotional period are palpable. It’s evident that he has embraced the roles he plays and the stories he helps bring to life, making this summer not just busy, but both enjoyable and fulfilling as he looks forward to the fans’ reactions.
Audiences can catch “The Odyssey” in cinemas now, while “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will arrive on screens soon, promising another thrilling chapter in the life of one of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes.
