The recently unveiled Air Force One, received as a gift from Qatar’s royal family, is slated for an extensive month-long upgrade period this autumn, confirmed White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. During this time, President Donald Trump will revert to the older model aircraft for his official travel.
Leavitt stated that while the new aircraft is deemed safe for presidential use, enhancements will be implemented to further augment its capabilities. “During that time, the president will fly on the old Air Force One,” she noted, signalling a brief return to the previous model, which has served past presidents for years.
The aircraft, donated by the Qatari government last year, has been a topic of much discussion, particularly given its lavish customisation featuring a red, white, dark blue, and gold colour scheme preferred by Trump himself. However, reports indicate that it may lack several of the security features found in its predecessors, raising questions about its readiness for presidential travel.

Reports highlighted a significant $934 million transfer from a nuclear modernization fund to an undisclosed classified project, which is believed to be related to the Air Force One renovation.
