At the age of 26, Victoria Louie has carved out a unique niche on social media, where her videos focused on skincare and, in particular, the peeling of pimple patches have garnered widespread attention. What started as a personal coping mechanism has transformed into a platform that connects her with others facing similar struggles, ultimately allowing her to document her experiences and foster a sense of community among those dealing with acne.

Louie’s journey into the world of skincare began in her early teens when she first noticed tiny bumps appearing on her forehead. While these initial signs of acne didn’t bother her much, things took a turn for the worse during high school and into her college years when she began to experience cystic acne. “It was a lot more noticeable,” Louie explains. “I became more insecure about it because people could easily see it, especially my family members, who were quite critical.”

Despite her struggles with acne, Louie had a previously established love for creating content, particularly through YouTube. “Filming and talking to a camera has always felt natural to me,” she recalls. When she transitioned to TikTok, sharing her skincare journey became an avenue for connecting with an audience that resonated with her experience. “Receiving comments from people who appreciated my content motivated me to keep posting more videos,” she adds.
Her turning point came when she discovered pimple patches, which she found not only effective in treating her blemishes but satisfying to use as well. “I thought they were so great,” Louie remarks. “They can cover your pimples and help absorb what’s inside them.” This revelation prompted her to start documenting her use of these patches, which in turn led to an influx of supportive comments from viewers who related to her struggles. “It made me feel a lot better about my skin journey, knowing I wasn’t alone in this fight,” she shares.
As her following increased, so did her usage of pimple patches. An idea struck Louie while she was in the shower one day: what if she saved her used patches in a dedicated jar? This quirky concept sparked the creation of “Patrick the Pimple Jar,” a tongue-in-cheek representation of her skincare journey. “Having a little trash can for pimple patches became a fun engagement piece,” she explains.
Louie’s use of the jar has allowed her to visually track her progress with acne treatment. “The original jar is halfway full, reflecting when my acne was at its worst, while the second jar from CeraVe has significantly fewer patches,” she shares. “Comparing the two gives me reason to be optimistic about my journey and demonstrates how far I’ve come.”
While Louie remains focused on overcoming her skin issues, she acknowledges that her platform was built on her experiences with acne. “I’ve definitely thought about what I will do if I ever do overcome my acne,” she admits. In addition to her skincare videos, Louie has a longstanding passion for makeup. “When I initially started making videos, I showcased a variety of topics, including makeup, so I believe I can always incorporate that into my content,” she asserts.
Louie envisions her future content evolving to include not just skincare tips but also makeup tutorials that align with her personality. “Sharing my enthusiasm for makeup alongside my skincare journey could be an exciting new chapter for me,” she states.
As she looks forward to the possibility of posting about clearer skin, Louie hopes to share insights that reflect her personal experiences in a way that could benefit others. “Once my skin reaches its best state, I aspire to offer tips based on my journey and help others who may be in a similar position,” she explains.
Through her candidness and relatability, Victoria Louie has built a supportive online community, proving that the journey to clear skin is not simply about the destination but also about the connections made along the way. Her story resonates with many, offering hope and inspiration to all those who face similar battles.
