The case of a young mother’s tragic death has taken a grim turn as a 24-year-old man from Arizona is now facing serious charges. Domonic Rodolico has been charged with first-degree murder and the concealment of a dead body in relation to the alleged killing of 21-year-old Arianna Bailey Jones.

Arianna was reported missing by her family on 7 July. Four days later, the authorities uncovered remains believed to belong to her in a desolate area near Lake Pleasant. Glendale police spokesperson Jose Santiago provided updates on the investigation during a press conference, revealing that Rodolico and Jones had met online prior to their fateful encounter.

According to Santiago, it is believed that the two communicated through social media before eventually meeting for what was described as a date. The police have gathered evidence suggesting that the pair attended a movie together before ending up in the remote location where the alleged crime is said to have occurred. The investigation indicates that this may have been the first time they met in person.
The discovery of Jones’ remains was made on 11 July, shortly after her family reported her missing. Santiago mentioned that a variety of physical evidence at the scene, including clothing and other personal items, aided in the identification of Jones, though confirmation from the medical examiner was still pending at the time.
Detectives have reportedly collected various items from the crime scene, including movie souvenir cups, casings, and bags of concrete mix. Further examinations revealed concrete and lye mixed into the soil around the area where the remains were found, all raising significant questions about the circumstances surrounding Jones’ death.
The investigation into the case began when Jones’ family expressed concerns for her safety, leading officers to her apartment. Santiago described the apartment as “kind of dishevelled,” with evidence indicating something suspicious had occurred. Notably, her cellphone was left behind, and her dog was found crated and in distress after being left without food for several days.
Records indicate that Arianna’s social media accounts became inactive shortly after 5 July, and investigators tracked her last cellphone signal to 6 July. Surveillance footage captured Jones and Rodolico walking together in a parking lot after leaving the cinema.
Further investigation revealed that Rodolico had picked up Jones from her apartment on the evening of 5 July. What transpired afterwards remains unclear, but police believe that Rodolico and Jones may have had more than one conversation before their attempted meeting.
Rodrico was arrested on 11 July when authorities caught him cleaning his vehicle. An affidavit suggested that Rodolico’s mother reported seeing him with severe lacerations on his right hand the morning after Jones went missing. He allegedly claimed he had been attacked by two male suspects while he was with Jones at the cinema.
During questioning, Rodolico purportedly told police that the two of them were assaulted by these unknown men, leading to a scenario where he escaped and Jones remained behind. Santiago confirmed at the conference that, despite Rodolico’s claims, ample evidence had been gathered to implicate him in Jones’ murder.
Currently, Rodolico is being held on a substantial cash bond of $2 million as he awaits further proceedings. This case continues to develop as the investigation unfolds, and the local community grapples with the shocking nature of the incident. The police have indicated they will be providing further updates as additional details emerge, amidst a growing concern for safety among young individuals in the area.
