Terri Irwin recently shared heartfelt reflections on social media to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the beloved film, *The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course*, which she starred in alongside her late husband, Steve Irwin. The film, released in 2002, featured the couple portraying exaggerated versions of themselves as they fought to save a crocodile from a group of poachers ultimately revealed to be CIA agents.

Taking to Instagram on 14 July, Terri, who is now 61, expressed her gratitude for the unforgettable experience of making the film. She reminisced, “It’s been 24 years since the premiere of *The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course*. What a time we had. Best crew, best fun, and the adventure of a lifetime. So grateful we were able to film this action-packed movie. Loved every minute!” Her post was accompanied by nostalgic photos capturing moments from both the film and its premiere event, including cherished family snaps with their daughter, Bindi.
Bindi Irwin, now 27, joined the discourse by commenting on her mother’s post. Reflecting on her experiences, she said, “I feel so lucky to have been part of this with you and Dad. Thank you for bringing me along for every moment. I’m so lucky to have the best parents in the entire world. I love you and Dad with all my heart.” Her words encapsulated the strong familial bond and their shared commitment to wildlife conservation.
*The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course*, produced on a budget of approximately $12 million, became a commercial success, grossing over $33 million worldwide. The film not only showcased Steve and Terri’s dynamic on-screen chemistry but also featured notable actors like Magda Szubanski, David Wenham, Lachy Hulme, and Aden Young.
Steve and Terri welcomed their second child, Robert, in 2003. Tragically, Steve passed away three years later at the age of 44. His death, caused by a short-tail stingray barb during the filming of a documentary, left a profound impact on his family and fans alike. However, both Terri and her children have steadfastly continued his legacy, maintaining their dedication to wildlife conservation, education, and the operations of Australia Zoo.
Post Steve’s passing, Terri has guided Bindi and Robert in upholding the family’s commitment to conservation. Bindi, who hosted her own nature series, *Bindi the Jungle Girl*, from 2007 to 2008, has actively promoted wildlife education and awareness. In addition, she won the illustrious competition show *Dancing with the Stars* in 2015, demonstrating her ability to blend entertainment with advocacy for her father’s mission.
Robert, now 22, has followed suit by competing in *Dancing with the Stars* in 2023, winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy. In a previous interview, he mentioned how Bindi’s earlier success on the show inspired him. He remarked, “When I watched her lift that Mirrorball, I saw her lifting that message,” highlighting how their visibility helps spread enthusiasm for wildlife conservation and support for Australia Zoo’s and their charity, Wildlife Warriors.
At the Steve Irwin Gala this past May in Las Vegas, Terri and Robert spoke about the journey of continuing Steve’s legacy. They described it as a blend of hard work and profound grief, yet punctuated by moments of joy. “To be able to have shared that with him was incredibly special — and to carry it on,” Terri shared. She humorously compared her son’s approach to Steve’s, noting, “But I will say the one thing that Robert’s got that Steve didn’t — Steve never took his shirt off for wildlife.”
Robert, who has been unreservedly open about his appearance in various campaigns, including an underwear advertisement for an Australian brand, quipped about his willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
As the Irwin family continues to honour Steve’s legacy, their commitment to wildlife conservation remains unwavering. Through their work at Australia Zoo and in the public eye, they strive to inspire the next generation to cherish and protect the natural world. The heartfelt reflections from both Terri and Bindi on the film’s anniversary underscore the enduring love and shared mission that have characterised their journey as a family since Steve’s untimely passing.
