According to the New York State Police (NYSP), the aircraft departed the airport at approximately 10:36 p.m. on the evening of 13 July, but contact with the plane was lost almost immediately after takeoff, when it had ascended to roughly 100 feet in altitude. The police have reported that the crash took place at around 11:15 p.m. local time, in a remote area off Route 186.
Rescue efforts commenced around 40 minutes after the last communication was made with the aircraft. Troopers began an extensive search of the region, with a police drone ultimately assisting in locating the crash site at approximately 2:06 a.m. Unfortunately, it was determined that the aircraft had been “destroyed by the impact”, and all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Gabriele Jasper, 33-year-old Gabriella Hillgrube, and 2-year-old Guiliana Hillgrube, all of whom were residents of New Jersey. Authorities confirmed that Gabriella was Jasper’s daughter, and Guiliana was his granddaughter.
In addition to being an experienced pilot, Gabriele Jasper was also a respected pain management doctor, having established his own practice in Brick, New Jersey. Tributes have begun pouring in for Jasper, who was remembered for his dedication not only to medicine but also to his family and friends.

Chris Alderucci, a friend of Jasper, praised him for his commitment to caring for his patients and the staff in his practice. “He was one of the most genuine surgeons that cared about his patients and the staff that worked with him,” Alderucci remarked. The local community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, with many feeling the impact of Jasper’s tragic passing.
As investigations continue, the cause of the crash remains unclear. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has begun looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident, striving to uncover answers and provide closure to the families affected by this tragic event.
The sudden loss of three lives has left a profound void within the community. As funeral arrangements are made, thoughts and prayers are with the families as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy. The plane crash serves as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with aviation, particularly in light of the close-knit relationships often formed within families that take to the skies together.
This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing narrative of aviation safety, underscoring the importance of thorough investigations and preventive measures to ensure the safety of all air travel. As the NTSB continues its work, many will be eagerly awaiting updates that could shed light on the causes of this heart-wrenching accident.
