A response to the tragic death of Mississippi teenager Nolan Wells seems imminent, as his parents prepare to meet with district attorney Angel Myers McIlrath this week. Nolan, aged 18, went missing during a getaway to Horn Island on July 4, a holiday excursion with friends. His body was discovered two days later on the northwestern tip of the island. The inquiry into his death continues, led by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, alongside McIlrath’s office.
The district attorney confirmed to NBC News that she has scheduled a meeting with Nolan’s parents on Wednesday, July 15. McIlrath stated that the interaction aims to provide the family with more insight into the ongoing investigation. “We’re able to share with victims a little bit more than we can share with outsiders,” she stated. However, she also urged caution, noting that the information disclosed would still be somewhat limited.
Furthermore, she stressed the importance of refraining from rushing to conclusions. “We don’t want to rush to judgment or speculate,” McIlrath remarked, adding that the investigation remains a priority. No indication has been given that the case is being handled as a criminal matter, although officials await the results of toxicology tests to complete the autopsy report.
