A Kansas City resident has expressed her frustrations regarding a significant delay in receiving a refund for a dining plan purchased at Worlds of Fun, a theme park that recently changed ownership. Angel Wolfe, a longtime patron of the park, claims that since the acquisition of the park by Enchanted Parks, her family has faced numerous issues concerning the plan they had bought before the sale.

Worlds of Fun was formerly managed by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation until April 2023, when the company sold the park along with five others. The new ownership has raised concerns among some guests, particularly regarding the dining plans that were previously offered. Wolfe revealed that her family, which has been visiting the park since the late 1980s, had purchased seven all-season gold dining passes, allowing them to enjoy two meals per day at the theme park.
However, following the transition to Enchanted Parks, Wolfe learned that these dining passes would no longer be honoured. According to Enchanted Parks’ official communication, those who bought a dining plan before the ownership change have three choices: receiving a full refund, exchanging the plan for an e-gift card with an additional bonus, or keeping the dining plan, which would remain valid only at Six Flags-owned parks.

Having opted for the refund, Wolfe was expecting more than £700 to be returned to her. She has described the frustrating experience of dealing with the new management, stating that despite her numerous inquiries via email and phone, there has been little progress on her refund over the past few months. “I understand they don’t want to honour the dining plan, but I do like to have my refund,” Wolfe commented. “For me, that’s a lot of money, but to these amusement parks, it’s not.”

In response to Wolfe’s predicament, a spokesperson for Worlds of Fun confirmed to PEOPLE magazine that her refund is being processed. The spokesperson expressed appreciation for the Wolfe family’s patience during this period and acknowledged that the process has been longer than anticipated, causing frustration for their guests. “Guest service is very important to Worlds of Fun,” the spokesperson said. “We recognize this process has taken far longer than it should have, and we sincerely apologise for the frustration this has caused.”
This situation highlights the challenges often faced by consumers when theme parks change hands, especially regarding previously established policies and services. Many guests may feel a sense of uncertainty when navigating the conditions of their purchases, especially when these are changed or revoked under new management.
The case of Angel Wolfe is not an isolated incident, as similar complaints regarding delayed refunds and poor communication have been reported by other guests at Worlds of Fun since the park’s acquisition. Various patrons have taken to social media to share their experiences, calling for clearer lines of communication between the park management and its visitors.
For families who have annual passes or extensive plans at amusement parks, these issues can lead to a significant loss of trust and loyalty. As summer draws to a close and families look ahead to future visits, they may reconsider their commitment to theme parks facing operational difficulties.
Moving forward, it remains to be seen how Enchanted Parks will address these ongoing concerns and restore confidence among patrons like Wolfe. As the new management settles into its role, the expectation is that they will focus on improving customer service and fulfilling refund obligations in a timely manner.
The situation serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining transparency and effective communication in the service industry, particularly in the context of family leisure activities that hinge on customer satisfaction. As the theme park season comes to a close, customers are hoping that their concerns will be adequately addressed before the new season begins.
