Buffalo Trace Distillery is inviting adults to relive the joys of childhood summers with a unique offering that combines nostalgic camp activities with bourbon education. Titled “Camp Buffalo Trace,” this free programme will take place on August 29 and September 5 at the distillery’s picturesque site in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Designed for individuals aged 21 and over, Camp Buffalo Trace aims to deliver an immersive experience filled with engaging activities centred on bourbon tasting and distillery traditions. Participants can expect an array of experiences that include blind tastings, trivia games focused on the distillery’s history, and hands-on activities that explore bourbon craftsmanship.
One of the highlights includes crafting a custom muddler using authentic barrel staves, which immerses attendees in the rustic charm of the distillery’s heritage. Another exciting feature is a bung-driving relay, a traditional method used in barrel preparation that allows guests to engage in a little friendly competition. Additional activities involve the opportunity to take part in a single-barrel challenge where participants will sample three distinct barrels of the same bourbon at different ages, testing their palate in the process.
For those seeking a more immersive experience, Buffalo Trace is offering a luxury overnight camping option available to select winners. This component of Camp Buffalo Trace will provide comfortable, air-conditioned canvas tents equipped with mini-fridges, plush robes, and other amenities.
Buffalo Trace Distillery General Manager Tyler Adams expressed excitement over the programme, stating, “At Buffalo Trace Distillery, we’re always looking for new ways to create memorable moments for our guests, and Camp Buffalo Trace offers an opportunity to celebrate the fun and connection that make summer so special.” His vision for the camp includes fostering lasting memories through a blend of interactive activities and bourbon education under the stars.
The selection process for attendees will begin with an online sweepstakes launching on July 14 at noon and running until July 21. Applicants will have the choice between participating in the day camp or opting for both the day camp and the overnight luxury camping experience.
In total, 90 winners will be drawn for the day camp experience across both dates, each receiving a guest pass. Additionally, 10 participants will be chosen for the overnight luxury camping experience, along with their day camp access. Those who apply for both experiences will still have the opportunity to win the day camp even if they are not among the overnight winners.
With a mix of interactive experiences, education, and luxury accommodations, Camp Buffalo Trace is poised to offer a unique take on adult summer fun, inviting guests to explore the rich culture of bourbon while creating cherished memories along the way.
