Three remarkable siblings from New Jersey are celebrating an extraordinary milestone as they conclude their high school journey together. Identified as the Daly triplets, 18-year-olds Laurel, Daylan, and Sophia recently graduated from College Achieve Center Charter School in North Plainfield, New Jersey, a moment that brought immense pride not just to the trio, but also to their family and friends.

In a unique twist, Laurel and Sophia were awarded the title of co-valedictorians, a testament to their exceptional academic performance. Both siblings achieved an impressive grade point average (GPA) of 4.59, having spent their high school years dedicated to their studies, each complementing the other’s strengths. Daylan, while equally involved in academic pursuits, expressed that the competition for the top honour primarily lay between his sisters. “I honestly thought that Sophia would beat Laurel out because she’s always in her books and stuff,” he remarked, intrigued by the unexpected outcome of their shared accolade.

Sophia shared insights into their academic rivalry, which she clarified was friendly and collaborative rather than contentious. “It wasn’t initially a competition,” she stated, adding that their focus was primarily on achieving good grades. For Sophia, her passion lay in writing and storytelling, while Laurel gravitated towards STEM subjects. The triplets’ remarkable achievement at College Achieve was a culmination of their hard work, proving that academic excellence can flourish in diverse areas of study.
Reflecting on their educational foundation, the triplets attributed much of their love for learning to their grandmother, Francine Bogle. They recalled summer days spent reading as she instilled in them the value of education. “Our placemats had the alphabet on it,” Sophia remembered, acknowledging that their early experiences, despite challenging at times, had significant long-term benefits. Their parents also played a pivotal role in their academic lives, particularly their father, Damian Daly, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 50. As Laurel and Sophia crafted their valedictory speech, they drew inspiration from his life lessons, reminding their peers not to “sleep their dreams away.”
The bond shared among the triplets is a standout feature of their relationship, one they describe as exceptionally close. Laurel noted that having grown up together, their bond transcends the typical sibling connection. Daylan chimed in, suggesting that at times they exhibit almost telepathic traits, sharing understanding through subtle cues and expressions. However, the trio often experienced misunderstandings from others, who frequently misidentified their relationships as friendships rather than sibling bonds.
Looking ahead, the Daly triplets are preparing to embark on new journeys, albeit separately. They will take time to visit cousins in Miami before a family gathering in Martha’s Vineyard. In the upcoming academic year, Laurel will begin her studies at Princeton University, Sophia will attend the University of Pennsylvania, and Daylan will commute to Rutgers University. Even as they anticipate their varied paths, the prospect of being distanced from one another evokes mixed feelings for Laurel, who reflected, “I don’t like being separated from my siblings… It’s definitely going to be a culture shock having to be away from my siblings.”
Despite these changes, the triplets remain optimistic about their futures, recognising the potential personal growth each will experience in their respective environments. They understand that nurturing independence will ultimately strengthen their bond, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their academic and personal lives.
As they step into this new phase, the Daly triplets embody the spirit of determination and support. Their shared experiences not only highlight their achievements but also inspire those within their community. As young graduates, their journey serves as a reminder that education, resilience, and a loving family can profoundly shape one’s path, leading to incredible ventures beyond high school.
