A brand new series on HGTV is set to showcase the transformation of neglected vacation rentals, featuring comedian Leslie Jones and renovation expert Jasmine Roth. Titled “Roast My Rental,” the show promises to deliver both humour and heart as it dives into the often-overlooked world of short-term rental properties in dire need of a makeover.

Scheduled to debut on Friday, July 24 at 10 p.m. ET, the series will follow Jones as she visits some of the country’s most disappointing holiday rentals. In a rather unconventional approach, she not only assesses these properties but also provides an honest and humorous critique, or “roast,” before Roth steps in to lead the renovation efforts.
The trailer, which was unveiled exclusively by PEOPLE, sets the stage for a lighthearted yet revealing experience. In the initial scenes, Jones arrives in a flashy red convertible, only to find herself faced with a rundown property filled with trash. Her horrified reaction of “Disgusting!” encapsulates the essence of what the show aims to address—properties that fail to align with their online representations.

The comedic angle of the show is significant, as Jones, at 58 years old, draws from her extensive travels. With a wealth of experience in both excellent and abysmal accommodations, she states, “Sometimes a property just loses its way, and that’s where I come in.” Her mission is to assist owners who recognise that their rentals are lacking potential and require restoration.
Throughout the trailer, Jones encounters a variety of properties, expressing her disbelief at how some have deteriorated so significantly. “Do we need to call the authorities?” she jokes, highlighting the extremes she faces in each episode. Roth, known for her role in “Help! I Wrecked My House,” teams up with Jones to implement practical solutions to the various problems encountered.
The show highlights the dangerous aspects of some properties, with Roth noting, “These steps are dangerous, so I’m gonna redo them.” Viewers will also see interesting concepts, such as Roth’s amusing commentary on how to properly furnish a space-themed rental, emphasising the creative decisions involved in renovations.

As each episode unfolds, the enthusiastic reactions of homeowners will be a focal point, especially during the transformative reveals. In classic HGTV style, the before-and-after moments promise to evoke emotions, with Jones visibly moved as property owners express their gratitude for the vital improvements.
The premiere episode will take place in Temecula, California, a region renowned for its proximity to wine country. Jones and Roth aim to assist the owners of a quaint cottage in revitalising their space with an alpine-inspired makeover to attract more guests.
“Roast My Rental” seeks to combine entertainment with valuable lessons in property management for owners intent on boosting their rental bookings. With Jones’s comedic flair and Roth’s renovation expertise, viewers can look forward to an engaging mix of laughter and inspiration when the series launches.
Tune in to HGTV on July 24 at 10 p.m. ET to catch the exciting new series set to change the fortunes of struggling rentals across the nation.
