A 19-year-old Menlo College student, Andres Manuel Aguilar, faces serious allegations involving the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. He has been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a minor and one count of supplying marijuana to a minor, according to San Mateo County authorities.

The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on May 4, when Aguilar allegedly approached the girl at a bus stop and engaged her in conversation. San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe claimed that the girl misled Aguilar by stating she was 17 years old, despite his awareness of her true age. The two allegedly exchanged contact details and arranged to meet again the following day.

Once they reunited, it is alleged that Aguilar and the young girl left the bus stop together, after which they proceeded to a nearby store where they purchased alcoholic beverages. Following this meeting, Aguilar is accused of taking the girl to his dormitory room at Menlo College, where the alleged sexual assault occurred.

In a concerning twist, once Aguilar became anxious about the possibility of the girl becoming pregnant, it is alleged that he arranged for a Plan B emergency contraceptive to be delivered through DoorDash. Wagstaffe stated that Aguilar handed the contraceptive to the girl and permitted her to leave afterward. Upon her return home, the victim informed her mother about the incident, leading to a visit to Stanford Hospital. The hospital staff subsequently notified local law enforcement.
Aguilar was arrested in his dormitory on May 12 following the police investigation, which included interviews and a forensic examination of the victim. The investigation process has also prompted the authorities to look into the potential existence of another victim, leading to the postponement of a preliminary hearing initially set for July 8.
Wagstaffe indicated that investigators are currently exploring the claims of a second victim, although he clarified that this is still an ongoing investigation. At this stage, there is no confirmed second victim, but the authorities are considering all possibilities.
The mother of the victim has been proactive in urging anyone who may have had negative interactions with Aguilar to come forward. She expressed her hope that any possible victims will feel encouraged to share their experiences.
As the case progresses, Aguilar’s next preliminary hearing is now scheduled for the end of August. Attempts to reach out to the attorney representing Aguilar for comments on the charges have been unsuccessful. The situation remains under scrutiny as the legal proceedings unfold, and the District Attorney’s office asserts that they are committed to pursuing justice for the victim.
This case has raised serious concerns about the safety of minors and reinforces the importance of community awareness regarding inappropriate adult behaviour towards youth. As the investigation continues, the San Mateo District Attorney’s office is expected to provide updates on the situation and any developments regarding potential additional victims.
