In an unexpected turn of events, Christina Mahone, a 37-year-old resident of Douglasville, Georgia, welcomed her daughter, Scotti Ann, in the most unconventional of settings—her garage. This remarkable home birth occurred just nine minutes after her water broke, a rush of events captured on their Ring doorbell camera.

Christina had begun experiencing contractions approximately four hours prior; however, they had not escalated in intensity. Around 2 p.m. on June 12, she sensed the situation had progressed, and it was time to head to the hospital. Her daughter, 12-year-old Mercy, quickly alerted her father, Damien, aged 39, who was already on his way home.

As Christina gathered her belongings in preparation to leave, her water broke, indicating that delivery was imminent. Just moments later, she felt an overwhelming urge to push. Within eight minutes, and with the help of her husband, who arrived home just in time despite the urgency, Christina found herself giving birth in the garage.
The situation intensified as her husband Damien, while on the phone with a 911 dispatcher, assisted in the delivery of their baby girl. In an interview, Christina described the experience as “so quick and fast—it was crazy.” The couple faced a whirlwind of emotions as they adapted to the unforeseen circumstances.
Ring doorbell footage captured not only the delivery but also the frantic yet calm atmosphere surrounding it. As Mercy helped her mother through the pain, Damien was heard reassuring them both while relaying critical information to the emergency services. Remarkably, three minutes after Christina’s water broke, little Scotti entered the world at 2:12 p.m., weighing in at 9 lbs and measuring 20 inches long.
Following the birth, both mother and daughter were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Fortunately, both remain healthy and stable after the surprise home delivery. Christina expressed her gratitude, stating that she and Scotti “are both doing so well” and praised her newborn as “a healthy and happy baby.”
Amid the chaos, Christina took a moment to recognise the efforts of not only her husband but also her children for maintaining composure during the unexpected situation. “He was so calm, and I couldn’t have had a better partner,” she stated, reflecting on Damien’s steady presence throughout the ordeal.
This heartwarming yet dramatic account serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of childbirth and how families can rise to extraordinary challenges when faced with unexpected circumstances. In their own unique way, the Mahone family’s experience highlights the powerful bonds formed during such pivotal moments as they welcomed their new arrival.
