At approximately 1:45 p.m. local time, officers were called to the Reefhouse Resort & Marina, where they discovered the children alone in the room while their parents were apparently at the pool enjoying drinks to celebrate Independence Day.

The MCSO’s statement detailed that staff gained access to the room after hearing the cry of an unattended baby. Upon entering, officers found two young children in nursery beds or cribs, left without supervision. After further investigation, it emerged that the parents had been at the pool for a duration estimated between 40 minutes to an hour.
