Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, recently tackled the National Three Peaks Challenge, a feat she undertook to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This significant event took place at the end of last month, and on 5 July, she took to Instagram to share touching images of her family who had rallied around her during this endeavour.

In her Instagram post, the Princess reflected on her week since completing the challenge, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported the charity. Alongside a series of family photographs, she captured the essence of her journey and the encouragement she received from Prince William and their three children: Prince George, aged 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8. “This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge,” was how she began her post.

The shared images included a joyful moment of Kate embracing Prince William, both clad in athletic gear, which illustrated their supportive partnership. One of the standout photos featured Kate surrounded by her children, with Prince George noticeably taller than his mother, hinting at the rapid growth of the young prince. Other photographs depicted tender moments between Kate and her daughter Charlotte, while Prince Louis was seen engaged playfully with a dog in the background.

The concluding image of the post highlighted a family gathering, featuring Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and her brother, James Middleton, alongside the family. It epitomised the support and affection that Kate has from her loved ones, reinforcing the theme of family unity.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, for which Kate undertook this considerable challenge, is dedicated to advancing research and funding initiatives that assist cancer patients during and after their treatment. Kate has spoken about the deep personal connection she feels to the charity, emphasizing the significance of its work in her life. In a heartfelt message shared on the charity’s website, she articulated her motivation for taking on the challenge, stating, “I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.”
The Princess went on to convey the importance of holistic healthcare and the impact of serious illness, reflecting on her desires to raise awareness around these issues through her challenge. She noted her respect for The Royal Marsden, describing it as a place of great meaning where care and expertise have profoundly changed the lives of many.
The National Three Peaks Challenge entails climbing the highest summits in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours – specifically, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon. This rigorous undertaking covers a distance of approximately 23 miles, with a significant elevation gain of 10,052 feet. The challenge culminated with Kate’s final ascent as she reached Snowdon, where she was warmly greeted by her family, a moment previously confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
The charity work and personal challenges faced by the Princess resonate deeply given her own experiences. It was announced in March 2024 that Kate was undergoing treatment for cancer and would be stepping back from public engagements during this time. Following several months of treatment, she later shared the uplifting news that she had completed chemotherapy, revealing in January 2025 that she was in remission.
Kate Middleton’s efforts, both through her own battle with health issues and her commitment to charitable causes, underscore a message of resilience and the importance of family support. Her active engagement in such causes reflects her dedication to not only her family but also to broader societal issues, demonstrating her ongoing role as a prominent public figure in promoting health awareness and charitable initiatives.
