After years of planning and anticipation, Nicole Caywood and her husband have finally stepped into what they define as their “forever home” in Idaho. The couple has spent over a decade working towards this milestone, and for Caywood, the moment was nothing short of surreal.
“To see our dream become a reality has been pretty surreal,” Nicole shared, reflecting on the emotional journey that culminated in the completion of their new home. The couple’s aspirations materialised after they purchased an empty plot of land in January 2021, a step that set off a lengthy planning and designing process.

The Caywoods meticulously crafted a wishlist as they envisioned their ideal living space, ensuring it suited their family’s needs. “We spent a lot of time thinking about what we wanted in our forever home,” explained Nicole. Among their key requirements were a main-floor primary bedroom, individual rooms for each of their four children, a designated guest room, a basement, and a home office. Notably, they also aimed to include a sports court attached to the premises.
The construction process unfolded over several years, involving collaboration with various builders and contractors. After careful consideration, the couple connected with a predominantly female team that would help bring their vision to life. “Our general contractor is a woman, Denisse Stokes, and our interior designer is Molly Marone from Molly Marone Interiors and Studio Des,” Caywood revealed. She appreciated the collaborative atmosphere, highlighting the strong communication amongst the female-driven team.
Despite this progress, the Caywoods encountered challenges along the way, particularly with the sharply rising costs of construction materials and services throughout the pandemic. “There were many moments that my husband and I both thought it just wasn’t going to happen,” Nicole admitted. Yet, upon meeting Denisse, everything began to fall into place.
Once they had solidified their plans, an exciting yet daunting opportunity arose. Caywood’s builder proposed entering their home into the town’s Parade of Homes, a showcase of newly built or remodelled residences. This decision introduced the pressure of a strict timeline, as the couple found themselves racing against the clock. “We had some delays with the final drafting and engineering, which set us back a bit,” she explained. Despite these hurdles, they managed to break ground in October, a mere eight months before the parade.
The construction phase was intensive. Nicole described the process as “a whirlwind,” with subcontractors and tradespeople often working long hours and during weekends to meet the ambitious deadline. “We had many sleepless nights towards the end of the project,” she said. Their efforts paid off, as the positive responses from attendees of the Parade of Homes made the experience gratifying.
After years of hard work and numerous trials, the Caywoods officially completed their home last month. Nicole documented her first emotional reaction to the finished space on TikTok, walking through the newly built structure while reflecting on the years it took to realise their dream. “Finally seeing our dream come to life was the most rewarding part,” she noted.
However, sharing their achievement online came with its own apprehensions. Nicole expressed her concerns about potential negativity surrounding their journey, but was pleased to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from those who viewed their home. “It has been such a labour of love, and it was heartwarming to see how happy complete strangers were for us,” she said.
Among the many impressive features of the house, Caywood expressed particular pride in the kitchen, which turned out to be exactly as she had envisioned. “The design came together so well. I wanted something that felt timeless and classic,” she remarked. The finished house boasts seven bedrooms, three half baths, and five full bathrooms, providing ample space for the family to grow.
With the completion of the house comes the next phase of their journey—furnishing and decorating their new home. Nicole anticipates that it will take time to fully complete this process, yet she is eager to share her decorating adventures on social media.
As the Caywoods embark on this new chapter, Nicole holds onto the hope that others will continue to enjoy their dream home just as much as they do. With her heartfelt sentiments and their impressive collaborative efforts, the couple has transformed their vision into reality, setting a remarkable example of perseverance and dedication.
