Ayesha Curry has entered the spotlight this summer with the launch of her new skincare product, the Pineapple Punch Hydrating Face Mask, from her brand Sweet July. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 37-year-old entrepreneur expressed her excitement about the launch and how it provides an opportunity for her to bond with her daughters, Riley, 13, and Ryan, 10, through skincare.

Curry, a self-proclaimed skincare enthusiast, often keeps face masks on hand, sometimes storing them in the fridge for a refreshing experience. “I love masks. I always keep them on hand,” she shared. “We love to have spa nights with my girls, and it’s the perfect way to bond and introduce them to the world of skincare.”

The Pineapple Punch Hydrating Face Mask marks a significant expansion for Sweet July, as it is the brand’s first foray into the face mask category. Curry noted that the inspiration for this product comes from her focus on combining sensory experiences with skincare driven by high-quality ingredients. “We wanted to focus on brightening,” she explained, highlighting the beneficial enzymes found in pineapple as a primary ingredient. Curry’s Jamaican heritage plays a crucial role in her brand ethos, with an aim to utilise ingredients that are culturally meaningful, such as the abundance of pineapples in Jamaica.

One of the most appealing aspects of the Pineapple Punch mask is its natural fragrance, created from the fruit extract and pineapple water instead of synthetic scents, which aligns with Curry’s commitment to clean beauty. The mask itself is a two-piece yellow hydrogel design, specially formulated to deliver hydration and soothing benefits. This innovative design allows for extended wear—suitable for maintaining on the skin for hours or even overnight to achieve maximum hydration.
“I like to sleep in the masks,” Ayesha revealed. “I’ll put the mask over the top of all my products and sleep in it to let it set. When you peel it off in the morning, you have glass skin—it’s the best thing in the world.”
Although Ayesha did not grow up with a focus on skincare, she now emphasises the importance of self-care to her children. “When I was growing up, that was not the focus at all. There was no routine or spa time—it just wasn’t a thing.” However, in her adult life, she is keen to instil these practices into her daughters’ lives. “I want them to have a healthy relationship with their routines without becoming obsessed.”
By engaging in skincare routines together, Ayesha believes she can guide her daughters towards understanding the products that are suitable for their skin, while also learning from them in the process. “I feel like I’m able to enlighten them on what products are beneficial for them. Honestly, I pick up a few tips from them as well,” she added with a laugh, highlighting the mutual learning experience.
Ayesha’s latest product launch is perfectly timed for the summer, especially for those looking to refresh their skin after sun exposure. Having recently returned from a family holiday in Jamaica with her husband, NBA star Stephen Curry, Ayesha described the Pineapple Punch Face Mask as a perfect way to cool and soothe the skin after long days in the sun.
Stephen may not participate in skincare rituals to the same extent as his wife and daughters, as Ayesha noted he “is a guy’s guy” when it comes to such routines. However, she mentioned that he does enjoy using their Lip Treatment. “He whipped it out the other day in the car, and I realised he was making an ad without making an ad,” she laughed. “He was like, ‘You don’t need me to influence your lip treatment?’ I said, ‘Yes, I do, but not right now.'”
Despite his minimalist approach to skincare, Ayesha expressed her deep appreciation for Stephen’s support of her brand and initiatives. “He loves it and is super supportive of all of the things,” she concluded, showing how teamwork extends beyond parenting into their entrepreneurial pursuits.
As Ayesha Curry continues to develop her Sweet July brand, her commitment to quality skincare rooted in her heritage highlights the importance of routine, self-care, and family connection. The Pineapple Punch Hydrating Face Mask is more than just a beauty product; it embodies an experience that Ayesha hopes will foster healthy relationships with beauty in younger generations.
