A mother from Kentucky has captured the attention of TikTok users after sharing her unconventional approach to preparing for her son’s doctor visits. Known on the platform as Shakinglikeemilk, 23-year-old Camille has gone viral for her humorous video showcasing her “ungothing” routine before taking her 11-month-old son to appointments.
In her TikTok post, which has drawn a considerable audience, Camille is seen transforming from her typical trad goth appearance to a more mainstream look. The video, which was shared on May 26, features her removing dark eyeliner, foundation, and black lipstick while sporting a lace camisole, belted corset, and an assortment of spikes and necklaces that reflect her goth aesthetic. Accompanying her video, she quipped, “I can’t be the only one who does this 😵💫 I should have left it on though fr.”

The mother expresses that this routine does not take a significant amount of time, typically lasting around 10 to 15 minutes. This involves not only changing her makeup but also brushing her hair and switching outfits. Camille believes that her alternative style represents her true self and does not always adhere to conventional standards of beauty. She noted, “Although I do incorporate a lot of basics that fit into my style when I’m having one of those low-energy days. I love a dark purple lip and a quick winged liner as an easy go-to!”
Camille’s affinity for goth culture can be traced back to her childhood. She recounts being influenced by characters such as The Hex Girls from ‘Scooby-Doo’, particularly the character Luna, and developing a fascination with vampires. Her style has evolved significantly since then, although she still cherishes her first red lipstick, which she received in middle school – an item that holds sentimental value for her.

In her interviews, she shared the excitement she felt as a child during Halloween, often persuading her mother to purchase vampire makeup kits that she would make last throughout the season. However, it was not until later in life that Camille felt empowered enough to fully embrace her alternative aesthetic.
Her TikTok presence has led to a favourable response from many viewers, with Camille noting the positive feedback she has received since showcasing her style. “Most people are so nice, and I think it shows how far society has come in accepting people as they are,” she said. However, she remains aware that not all responses are positive, as there are inevitable criticisms that accompany public exposure.
The Kentucky mother has also expressed how becoming a parent has further encouraged her to embrace her unique style and the importance of self-identity. She aims to inspire other women, particularly mothers, to stay true to themselves and, as she puts it, to boldly declare, “Screw societal expectations.”
Camille’s experience reflects a growing trend in which individuals are both exploring and celebrating their identities, particularly in the context of social media. Her candid approach to balancing motherhood with self-expression resonates with many who find themselves navigating similar challenges in today’s world.
As her TikTok account continues to gain followers, she remains committed to authenticity, encouraging others to embrace their quirks, whatever they may be. In a society that often prioritises conformity, Camille stands as a testament to the idea that individuality should be celebrated, particularly in the vibrant and sometimes misunderstood realm of alternative fashion.
