Hannah Brown, the former star of ‘The Bachelorette’, has recently shared her experiences with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS), previously referred to as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and how she has found relief through GLP-1 medication. In a candid conversation on the SheMD podcast, Brown discussed the difficulties she faced due to her diagnosis and the transformative impact of her treatment.

PMOS is a condition that affects how the body regulates insulin, often leading to a variety of symptoms including weight gain, irregular menstrual cycles, and excessive hair growth. According to medical professionals from the Mayo Clinic, individuals with PMOS may also experience cyst formation along the ovaries, which can disrupt the regular release of eggs.

During her podcast appearance, the 31-year-old reflected on her struggles with weight gain and the symptoms that accompanied her diagnosis. Brown stated, “I was obviously really bloated. I was not having my period. You know, it would be every three months, maybe I would have one for two days and then that would be it.” She expressed gratitude for the guidance provided by co-host Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, who introduced her to GLP-1 medications as a potential solution for her insulin resistance.
GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, have gained attention for their role in regulating blood sugar, slowing digestion, and reducing appetite. These treatments work by mimicking a natural gut hormone, thus addressing various metabolic issues. Brown reported a significant improvement since starting her treatment, mentioning that her menstrual cycle has stabilised, enabling her to have a period every 30 days without any bloating.
Describing the positive effects of the medication, she said, “I literally felt like a new human. Not just because it helped me manage my weight, but I felt supported with all the other PMOS symptoms I had.” Despite mixed opinions surrounding GLP-1 treatment in some circles, Brown expressed her view that it has been life-changing for her.
In previous interviews, Brown has spoken openly about her health challenges, including a rare condition known as a bicorporeal septate uterus. This condition, which affects only 0.3% of individuals with uteruses, can lead to complications such as miscarriages. The reality television star recounted her experience of discovering this condition: “At first, doctors thought I had two uteruses — but through further testing, I found out I have an abnormal uterus.”
Earlier this year, Brown underwent surgery to address this issue. She reported on social media that, after much deliberation, she finally decided to have the procedure she had postponed for quite some time. Alongside her husband, Adam Woolard, whom she married in July 2025, Brown is contemplating her future family planning.
Reflecting on her circumstances, Brown noted, “I’ve known for a while that I’d need to take care of this before trying to have kids one day… but life has been so full. Moving across the country, writing books, planning a wedding, buying a house — family planning just hasn’t been front of mind.” Acknowledging the complexities of determining the right time for parenthood, she expressed her desire to take steps towards addressing her health challenges.
Overall, Hannah Brown’s openness about her struggles with PMOS and subsequent treatment sheds light on an often overlooked aspect of women’s health issues. Her story serves not only as a personal testament to her resilience but also as an invitation for more discussions around the conditions like PMOS and the impact they have on those affected.
By sharing her journey, Brown hopes to foster a greater understanding of PMOS and encourage others facing similar challenges to seek the support they need. In a world where health challenges can often be shrouded in silence, her willingness to speak out brings visibility to important women’s health topics.
