Fast-food giant Taco Bell has announced a new addition to its menu, offering fans of the popular dish fajitas a chance to enjoy their flavours in a more convenient format. On 18 June, the chain will launch two new items: Fajita Street Chalupas and Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries. This limited-time offering promises to deliver the zest of fajitas without the elaborate presentation typically associated with the dish in restaurants.

Designed to encapsulate the essence of traditional fajitas, the Fajita Street Chalupas feature seasoned peppers and onions seasoned with chili, garlic, and onion, coupled with marinated steak or chicken tucked within cheesy Street Chalupa shells. To enhance the taste, the dish is topped with a Creamy Jalapeño sauce and a vibrant mix of onion and cilantro. Meanwhile, the Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries offer a similar flavour profile, incorporating chicken, peppers, and onions over Taco Bell’s signature Nacho Fries. These are completed with Creamy Jalapeño sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, and a delightful cheese blend.

According to a Taco Bell representative, this culinary innovation comes at a time when many consumers are drawn to the theatrical element of dining out. The chain’s strategy intentionally moves away from the “sizzling fajita theatrics” typically associated with the dish. Instead, Taco Bell aims to emphasise the robust flavours of fajitas in a more accessible way, following years of consumer feedback and product testing.
A brand spokesperson explained that their goal was to offer a taste experience that resonates with cravings while providing a fresh take on what fajitas can be. “We want to create something that really resonates with what people are craving,” they stated, highlighting the chain’s commitment to meeting customer desires.
This latest menu offering is not the first time Taco Bell has explored fajita flavours; the company has introduced various fajita-inspired items over its long history. Notably, a Steak Fajita Sandwich was on the menu during the 1980s, along with fajita burritos in subsequent years.
In an exciting twist for fans, 300 Taco Bell Rewards members will have the opportunity to secure exclusive, fajita-themed charm necklaces. Crafted by the Los Angeles jewellery brand Ian Charms, these limited-edition pieces will feature five handmade charms including representations of Street Chalupas and Taco Bell’s Fire Hot Sauce packets. This promotion will commence on 23 June as part of the chain’s Tuesday Drops, available only to rewards members via the Taco Bell app.
Taco Bell has been busy expanding its offerings beyond just fajitas lately. The chain recently launched its inaugural line of cold-brew coffee and cold foams at selected Live Más Cafés, featuring a balanced, low-acid profile made from air-roasted medium and dark Arabica beans sourced from Latin America. New flavours include Purple Velvet Cream, inspired by horchata, as well as Caramel Dulce Cream and Vanilla Cream.
As part of its innovation strategy, Taco Bell has hinted that these popular beverage options might roll out to a wider geographic area in the future, depending on initial customer responses. Additionally, the brand has also reintroduced the Shredded Beef Dipping Taco, inspired by traditional Mexican birria, along with Shredded Beef Nacho Fries for a limited period.
To further sweeten the mix, Taco Bell is tempting dessert lovers with its recently re-launched Strawberry Cinnabon Delights, delectable treats filled with cream cheese and coated in strawberry-flavoured sugar.
As the fast-food landscape continues to evolve, Taco Bell is keen to stay ahead by combining traditional flavours with contemporary dining preferences, especially with this new fajita-inspired menu revelation. As the launch date approaches, the anticipation builds for fans eager to experience these innovative offerings.
