Woman Accused of Driving at Children, Yelling Racial Slurs and Calling Them ‘Target Practice’

A 59-year-old woman from Cocoa, Florida, is facing serious charges after allegedly endangering a group of children while using racial slurs. The incident occurred on Sunday, 7 June, as Pamela Dresser reportedly swerved her vehicle towards the children, who were playing outside an apartment complex on Rosa L. Jones Drive.

According to a police affidavit, the frightening encounter prompted the children to flee in terror. Witnesses reported that following the threatening manoeuvre, Dresser drove to a nearby parking lot, where she allegedly performed dangerous driving stunts, known locally as “doing donuts”.

The alarm was raised shortly before 7 p.m. when police received calls regarding a disturbance at the scene. Upon arrival, officers found Dresser in an agitated state. A witness informed the authorities that Dresser had deliberately swerved her pickup truck towards the children while making comments suggesting that she was using them as “target practice”.

During police questioning, Dresser denied any wrongdoing, claiming that she had merely made a wide turn to avoid a yellow cart left by the roadside. However, the allegations against her continued to mount as further testimony revealed a more sinister interaction with those present, including racial slurs directed at a witness who confronted her.

The case took a darker turn when the children’s mother reported that Dresser explicitly admitted to the act, saying, “Yes, I did try to run your f—ing children over.” This was corroborated by eyewitness accounts, leading to Dresser’s arrest. She has since been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of child abuse, and two counts of corruption by threat against a public servant.

As the investigation progressed, one witness recounted how she had seen Dresser’s vehicle approach the children while they were playing, stating that the incident forced them all to run indoors for safety. This eye-witness account, along with Dresser’s own admissions, reinforced the police’s decision to take her into custody.

In another alarming development during the interaction with police, Dresser allegedly threatened to deliver a “special present” to the officers, which was interpreted as a further threat. The officers subsequently decided to arrest her due to the escalating nature of her behaviour.

Dresser was transported to the Brevard County Jail, where she remains in custody with a bond set at $250,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on 2 July. Attempts to obtain comment from her public defender have been unsuccessful at this time.
