Two brothers from Texas are facing legal charges for their involvement in the theft of approximately £14,500 worth of soccer equipment from the England national team. Mustafa Salik and Erfan Kamal have both been charged with one count each of receiving stolen property, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.

The incident, which has captured public attention, involved the pilfering of valuable soccer gear and memorabilia, including four pairs of football boots, a Lego construction kit in the shape of Nike Air trainers, goalkeeper gloves, a World Cup official match ball, signed jerseys from the national squad, multiple sets of shirts and shorts, electronics, and even two plush toys.
Details surrounding the incident reveal that the brothers, who are employed as truck drivers, picked up the equipment from Florida. The gear was intended for delivery to the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri, in preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. The theft reportedly occurred before the England squad arrived on a charter flight from Florida, where they had been engaged in pre-training activities.
On June 12, a staff member of the England team noticed that the soccer gear was missing and promptly alerted the Kansas City police. The employee sought to inspect the cab of the truck, but Kamal allegedly refused. According to a probable cause affidavit, the driver told the team member, “You have two options: either I let you look in the cab or I call the police.” It was reported that shortly after this incident, Kamal drove away from the scene with Salik.
The brothers claimed to the police that they had received permission to take the items. However, given the circumstances and the value of the stolen property, law enforcement took the matter seriously. Each brother has been assigned a bond of £59,500 following their charges.
