A family from Nevada has initiated legal proceedings against the widely-used gaming platform Roblox, claiming that the company failed to protect their daughter from a male predator. The allegations centre around an adult male who purportedly posed as a teenage boy to groom and exploit the family’s 11-year-old daughter, resulting in severe psychological and emotional harm.

The lawsuit, lodged in the Clark County District Court in Nevada, states that the alleged abuse began in 2024, shortly before the girl turned 12, while she was playing an online game called Chained Together. According to court documents, the man engaged with her through the platform’s communication features, which led to a series of troubling interactions including manipulation and escalated sexualised content.
The family’s attorney claims that the communications between the predator and the child shifted to private messaging apps, where the adult’s actions intensified. This alleged grooming process culminated in what the family describes as “horrific sexual exploitation,” which included the man sending explicit images and coercing the young girl to reciprocate.
The lawsuit criticises Roblox for its lack of adequate age-verification protocols and user safety measures, suggesting that these oversights contributed to the child’s exploitation. “If Roblox had enforced even the most basic safety standards, the child would never have encountered these predatory individuals,” the family’s legal representation stated in the complaint. Additionally, the parents argue that had Roblox been more forthright about the risks associated with the platform, they would have restricted their daughter’s access to it.
