In a harrowing tale of deception and brutality, Taylor Parker has been sentenced to death for the gruesome murder of her friend, Reagan Michelle Simmons-Hancock, in a shocking case that has captured national attention. The saga began in January 2020 when Parker, then involved with boyfriend Wade Griffin, deceitfully claimed to be expecting their first child. Despite having undergone a hysterectomy, which made her incapable of conceiving, Parker went to extensive lengths to maintain her façade. This included wearing a prosthetic belly and producing fake ultrasounds, which some of Griffin’s relatives eventually deemed suspect as inconsistencies arose over time.

On October 9, 2020, she brutally murdered Simmons-Hancock, who was at the time 35 weeks pregnant with her second child. In a gruesome act, Parker then performed an improvised Caesarean section to abduct the unborn baby.

The horrific crime unfolded at Simmons-Hancock’s home in New Boston, Texas. Parker attacked her friend with extreme violence, delivering a total of 113 stab wounds and numerous blunt force injuries, purportedly using a hammer. The scene was discovered by Simmons-Hancock’s mother, who found her daughter’s lifeless body, while her three-year-old granddaughter was found unharmed, hiding beneath a blanket.

Following the murder, Parker was apprehended by a state trooper in De Kalb, Texas, where she claimed she had given birth just moments before being stopped for erratic driving. In her possession was the lifeless baby, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Medical staff quickly became suspicious of Parker as she refused medical inspection, leading to further investigation into her claims.

Charged with capital murder, murder, and kidnapping, Parker’s trial commenced in September 2022, and the prosecution sought the death penalty, labelling her a future threat to society. A victim impact statement delivered by Simmons-Hancock’s mother was notably poignant, in which she characterised Parker as “an evil piece of flesh demon.” The jury found Parker guilty, and she received her death sentence in November 2022.

Parker’s troubled history reveals a pattern of deceit. Originally from Texas, she became a young mother at the age of 17 and had two children with different partners, including a brief marriage that ended in divorce. Her claims of personal struggles and a substantial inheritance from a syrup company were fabricated, further illustrating her ability to manipulate those around her. The documentary depicts a pattern of lying that escalated into this horrific act of violence.

In the aftermath, Parker has been incarcerated in the Patrick L. O’Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas, where she currently awaits execution. Although she attempted to appeal her conviction, the Texas Court upheld the ruling in 2025, with the U.S. Supreme Court declining to review her case in May 2026. As of now, no date has been set for her execution.
