Jinger Duggar, former star of the TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” recently reflected on the challenges she faced at the beginning of her marriage to Jeremy Vuolo. In a candid discussion during a recent podcast episode, the couple delved into their feelings and experiences from their wedding day nearly seven years ago, shedding light on their evolving relationship over time.

The couple married on 5 November 2016 in a ceremony attended by over 1,000 guests at the Cathedral of the Ozarks in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. As they reminisced about their nuptials, Jinger, age 32, posed a question to Jeremy, 38, regarding his nerves on their special day. Jeremy revealed that although he was not nervous about marrying Jinger herself, he did feel anxious about the significance of the marriage. “I was very nervous to get married,” he admitted, prompting a light-hearted response from Jinger, who was unfazed and excited as the day approached.

“I had zero fear on the day of our wedding,” Jinger shared, emphasising her eagerness to begin their life together. Her sentiment contrasted starkly with Jeremy’s apprehension, highlighting their differing emotional states on that transformative day.
As the conversation unfolded, Jinger reflected on the initial pressure she felt to maintain a perfect facade as a newlywed. She expressed that this inclination stemmed from her desire to meet the expectations of those around her. “When we got married, there was some of that in me,” she explained, acknowledging her struggle to present an idealised version of herself during those early years. She went on to reveal how this desire to perform created a conflict within her, as she juggled genuine intentions with the urge to keep others satisfied.
“Looking at that, I’m amazed that you even married me,” Jinger remarked, reflecting on her journey of self-discovery since their wedding. She highlighted a profound realisation that she no longer needed to put on a front. “I don’t have to perform,” she stated, indicating a newfound commitment to authenticity in her life and relationships. This shift towards being real rather than perfect is something she cherishes.
In addition to their podcast discussions, Jinger has explored her personal growth in her writing. In January 2023, she released her memoir, “Becoming Free Indeed,” which provides insight into her spiritual journey and quest for truth beyond what was portrayed on television. The book, she explains, is a compilation of stories that reveal her struggles and triumphs—elements which the cameras did not capture.
Jinger also announced that her second book, “People Pleaser,” is set to be published in January 2025. This upcoming work will detail her journey toward self-identity and independence from the need for external validation. Her focus on personal growth and introspection seems to resonate with her experiences in marriage and motherhood.
Since welcoming their first daughter, Felicity Nicole, in July 2018, Jinger and Jeremy have continued to navigate their lives under the public eye. They later welcomed a second daughter, Evangeline Jo, in November 2020, following a prior miscarriage, and are looking forward to expanding their family further. Their son, Finnegan Charles, was born in March 2025. The couple currently resides in Santa Clarita, California, where they raise their three children.
The candid revelations shared by Jinger and Jeremy reflect a broader theme of growth and resilience within the context of relationships. As they continue to adapt and evolve, the couple encourages others facing similar struggles to embrace authenticity and pursue their true selves.
Through their podcast discussions and upcoming publications, Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Jeremy Vuolo offer both a personal narrative and a source of inspiration for others on their own journeys, championing vulnerability and realness in a world often dominated by curated appearances.
