A Georgia mother, Shumeka Johnson, has been charged with reckless conduct after allegedly permitting her 13-year-old daughter to operate a motor vehicle, which resulted in a serious accident. The incident, which occurred on April 22, has raised significant concerns regarding child safety and parental responsibility.

The unsettling event took place at approximately 7:59 a.m. in the school drop-off lane of Brumby Elementary School, located on Terrell Mill Road. According to police reports, Johnson’s daughter was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica when the car unexpectedly accelerated. Johnson, who was reportedly standing in front of the vehicle, was struck and subsequently pinned underneath the car as it came to a stop on top of her.
In addition to Johnson, her other children, a 4-year-old boy and a 6-month-old girl, were also present in the vehicle during the incident. Following the collision, the car then reversed, hitting an unoccupied parked car nearby. Emergency services transported Johnson to a local hospital due to the serious injuries she sustained.
A criminal warrant for Johnson’s arrest was issued on June 3 by the Cobb County Magistrate Court, highlighting the legal ramifications stemming from this shocking incident.
