Madison Cupp and her family were travelling from Memphis to Newport News, Virginia, en route to attend her older brother’s graduation from the United States Coast Guard’s A School. The trouble began during the second leg of their journey when the aircraft encountered turbulence, prompting Cupp to become visibly upset.
