In a somber announcement that has reverberated throughout the Carrollton community, the Carrollton Police Department confirmed that Officer Dustin Krish passed away on June 10, just one day shy of the first anniversary of a life-altering traffic incident he suffered while on duty. During a routine traffic management operation near a construction site on Highway 27, Officer Krish was struck by a vehicle on June 11, 2025. He was 32 years old at the time of his passing.
Krish was directing traffic when the accident occurred, and he sustained critical injuries that led to his immediate transport to Wellstar Hospital in Marietta. Upon arrival, he was assessed to be in a critical condition, where he began a lengthy journey of medical challenges and rehabilitation.

The Carrollton Police Department issued a heartfelt tribute to Officer Krish, remembering him as a “courageous” and “faithful” officer whose commitment to duty was unwavering. In a poignant statement shared via social media, the department expressed their grief, declaring, “He is healed and home with Jesus. While we are heartbroken on earth, what a celebration Dustin is having in Heaven.”
Dustin Krish had served in the department for three years, having joined on September 24, 2022. Colleagues and friends reflected on his vibrant personality and deep faith. Jessica Krish, the officer’s sister-in-law, described him in a fundraising appeal as a man who “lit up every room” and was dedicated both to his family and his profession. He married his wife, Emily, in November 2024, and the couple’s bond was frequently mentioned by those who knew him.
After the accident, Krish underwent multiple surgical procedures and was subjected to extensive physical and speech therapy as part of his recovery. In April 2026, an update disclosed that he was still receiving intensive in-home therapy and required continuous care. However, a further setback occurred when Krish developed pneumonia, leading to his critical deterioration shortly before his passing.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp extended his condolences, stating, “Marty, the girls, and I join the Carrollton Police Department in mourning the loss of Officer Dustin Krish.” The Governor encouraged the community to keep Krish’s family and loved ones in their prayers and acknowledged his dedicated service to the region.
The circumstances surrounding the crash that injured Officer Krish were particularly tragic. The driver of the vehicle that struck him reportedly experienced a seizure moments before the incident. This unforeseen medical emergency not only impacted Officer Krish’s life but also resulted in the driver being hospitalised with minor injuries. In light of the accident, she voluntarily relinquished her driving licence.
As the police department and the local community navigate this profound loss, they have called upon the public to remember Officer Krish’s legacy of service and commitment. They have requested that prayers be directed towards his wife, Emily, his brother, Sergeant Chad Krish, and the wider family as they cope with their grief.
Officer Dustin Krish is remembered not only for his professional dedication but as a cherished member of the community, whose impact was felt far beyond his duties as a police officer. The poignant reflections from those who knew him highlight the deep connections formed within the Carrollton area. The legacy he leaves behind serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by police officers daily in service to their communities.
