In a remarkable display of familial devotion, Kizzy Jones, a London resident in her 40s, has opened up about her emotional journey towards motherhood, a path fraught with difficulties and self-discovery. After years of grappling with infertility, Kizzy found an unexpected ally in her younger transgender brother, Kenny Ethan Jones, who made a courageous offer to pause his medical transition and donate his eggs to help her conceive.

Kizzy’s struggle with infertility was accentuated by various factors, including age-related fertility decline, fibroids, and endometriosis. Having experienced the heartbreak of two miscarriages and the financial strain that often accompanies fertility treatments, she faced an uphill battle. At one point, Kizzy contemplated utilising donor eggs, a decision laden with both hope and financial uncertainty.
Upon noting the limited availability of suitable options, Kizzy had begun to lose hope. She sought assistance both within the UK and abroad but found the process frustrating. An encounter with a fertility clinic in Greece was particularly disheartening, as she was informed they had no Black donors available, an experience that left her feeling offended and excluded.

“It was about more than just skin tone; it was about heritage,” Kizzy expressed, reflecting on the conversation that drove her to reconsider her brother’s unexpected offer. Initially sceptical about Kenny’s intentions, she believed he could just be joking in a moment of levity. “When someone says ‘I’ll help you redecorate’ but never actually follows through,” she recalled, highlighting her hesitance to trust his commitment.
However, Kenny proved to be sincere in his desire to assist his sister. “When she told me she was exploring options for egg donors, I knew I had to step in. It wasn’t just a choice, it felt like a calling,” he said. This led to a transformative moment for both siblings in May 2024, when Kenny embarked on the two-week egg retrieval process, which would significantly alter their lives.
Throughout this challenging journey, Kizzy dedicated herself to supporting Kenny as he navigated the complexities of temporarily halting his hormone treatment. The emotional and physical pressures on him during this period were considerable. “Despite the light-hearted moments, there were times filled with anxiety, especially around medication administration,” Kizzy recalled.
Their shared experience further emphasised the mental health implications of fertility treatments. As Kizzy faced her own hurdles with the IVF process post-embryo creation, they were confronted with the reality that treatments could be delayed or ultimately cancelled, leading to renewed cycles of hope and disappointment.
Finally, after enduring multiple rounds of IVF, Kizzy learned in early 2025 that she was pregnant. The relief was tinged with trepidation as she grappled with the fears common among expectant mothers, particularly those with a history of loss. “You’re thrilled to be pregnant, but there’s always that fear of losing it,” Kizzy admitted, explaining how the statistics loomed over her like a shadow throughout her pregnancy.
As her pregnancy progressed, concerns about delivering safely emerged due to her history with fibroid surgery. Doctors advised Kizzy that a cesarean section would be the safest route for delivery, which she had anticipated given her medical background.
By the close of 2025, Kizzy finally welcomed her baby boy into the world, marking the culmination of years filled with longing, anxiety, and hope. “The moment I’ll never forget is hearing him cry when he was born,” Kizzy recounted, the joy of knowing her child was healthy washing over her.
Reflecting on their journey, both Kizzy and Kenny express immense gratitude towards each other. Kizzy now feels “eternally grateful” for her brother’s unwavering support and the sacrifices made to help her experience motherhood. Their story stands as a testament to the enduring strength of family bonds and the lengths to which loved ones will go to uplift one another, even in the face of adversity.
