Pop star Pink, known for hits like “Raise Your Glass,” is set to take centre stage as the host of the 2026 Tony Awards, which will be held at the iconic Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7. The event promises to be a grand celebration of Broadway’s finest performances, with a live broadcast scheduled on CBS and streaming available on Paramount+.

The 46-year-old singer, whose real name is Alecia Moore, disclosed her initial hesitance when invited to host the prestigious awards. In an interview with CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King, Pink explained, “It was an almost immediate yes. It was a yes, but, or yes, and, let me get permission from Willow.” Her decision hinged heavily on the approval of her daughter, 15-year-old Willow Hart, who has aspirations of making her mark on Broadway.

The approval was granted after Pink clarified with Willow that she would likely have a seat in the audience. “I was like, ‘I think so.’ So here we go,” recounted Pink, who emphasised her enthusiasm by stating she is currently in a “yes” phase in life. Willow has been a constant source of inspiration for Pink, with the singer reflecting on her daughter’s passion for musical theatre. “Her dream is to be on Broadway. She is musical theatre obsessed,” Pink elaborated. The star is committed to supporting her daughter’s aspirations and has vowed to be there for her in any way possible.

Throughout her career, Pink has been renowned for her spectacular aerial performances, and her hosting duties at the Tonys will showcase her love for such acrobatics. She hinted at a unique and entertaining opening number, featuring a substantial cast of 170 performers alongside innovative acrobatic elements. “There will be acrobatic moments, but not in the way that you would normally see me doing acrobatic moments,” she mentioned, teasing that there would be “a harness or two” involved.
In her signature humorous style, Pink described the impending performance as “goofy and over-the-top,” indicating that she aims to create a light-hearted atmosphere right from the start. “It’s gonna be so fun. And I’m an idiot from the very first moment, which was very important to me,” she said, emphasising her intention to celebrate the achievements of Broadway while poking fun at herself for being a newcomer in that realm.
During the event, Pink plans to highlight notable anniversaries and reunions, including iconic productions such as The Book of Mormon, Chicago, and A Chorus Line. She also expressed her ambition for the In Memoriam segment, calling it “amazing” and indicating her awareness of the importance of honouring those who have contributed significantly to the theatre community.
Beyond her personal stakes in the event, Pink spoke passionately about the essence of theatre in young people’s lives. She highlighted the troubling trend of art and theatre programmes being cut from school curriculums. “I want theatre to be available for every kid… those are the only places in towns and cities where kids can be goofy together and they can be in a safe space and they can be fully themselves,” Pink argued. Her commitment reflects a broader understanding of the impact of the arts on youth development.
The 2026 Tony Awards promises to be a memorable night, with Pink at the helm, blending her unique talents with a fervent appreciation for Broadway. Set to air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, the show will also be available to stream on Paramount+. As anticipation builds for this celebration of theatrical excellence, fans and industry insiders alike are poised to witness an extraordinary showcase led by an artist who clearly values the art of performance.
